ADecades of Experience

McKay’s career in art began as a commissioned oil painter, a display artist for Gregg’s department store, and an illustrator for newspaper advertising.  She continued as an artist and display artist six Roger’s Jewelers locations in Columbus, Ohio. She designed and wrote ”Little Sprout,” a children’s section in the Lima Newspaper and fashion drawing for advertising.

However, Susan enjoys her work and her years of study with many masters, including classes at Columbus College of Art and Design. McKay was a partner in forming “The Information People Advertising Agency, where she was the creative director, copywriter, and illustrator; later adding the White Oak Photography Studio as a partner and creative director. Her paintings are found in collections in U.S.A. (too many states to count), the UK, Canada, Australia, and Malaysia. She created a children page for the Lima News, taught adult education classes at Ohio State, and taught and lectured in various other cities. She an author in three “Out of The box I, II and III” and one “Never Too Late” anthology books, in Woman’s Magazines, and a writers group leader enjoys book cover design and other commercial work. Mckay is a mother of two children and has many grandchildren. She was born in Lima, Ohio, has lived in several states, and currently resides in Wapakoneta, OH and Bigfork, MT.
